Two-day workshop at HPCL on ‘Inner Choice: How to Make a Right Decision’

Two-day Management Development Programme on “Inner Choice: How to Make a Right Decision” for the Senior Managers of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL)  at their HPCLMDI, Nigdi, Pune was conducted on 29th and 30th September 2016 by Prof.Saikat Sen, Director, Sri Aurobindo Foundation For Integral Management (SAFIM), Centre of Excellence in Management of Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry.

Theme:

Decision-making is perhaps the essence of management or managerial competence. The effectiveness of a manager depends largely on his ability to take the right decision and successfully implement it. But there is not much clarity in modern management thought on what is precisely the right decision and how to arrive at it. The old traditional management depended heavily on reason and external tools like quantitative methods and computer.

However at present there is a growing recognition of the “bounded rationality” of human consciousness and the limitation of external tools. The complexity of the business environment and needs of the hypercompetitive corporate landscape is becoming too difficult to manage for human reason and its technological tools. The need for intuition is now recognized in the new management thought.

These higher intuitive faculties can give a holistic insight into the total truth of each decision-making situation and therefore help us to arrive at the truly right decision. The Indian Yoga can provide the practical methods for consciously awakening these intuitive faculties within us.

Programme Outcome:

In this workshop step by step method was suggested and practiced at the individual and collective level. In various sessions the participants analyze case studies on intuitive decision making and decision making through inner guidance. Reflective exercises helped them to understand about their self and the process how connect with it. They interacted very nicely amongst them and with the facilitator. All participants chalk out the future action plan about how they implement this new approach in the corporate function.
