Rupa S, Director, Sri Aurobindo Foundation for Integral Education, visited Sri Aurobindo International School (SAIS), Patiala and Sri Aurobindo School of Integral Education (SASIE), Chandigarh on 9-12 October 2018 to initiate programs on students’ leadership in the schools.
In her 2-day interactive workshops with the teachers at SAIS on 9th and 10th October, she deliberated the concept of leadership and qualities that leaders inspire others with. Through introspections, it was established that each individual is a potential leader and the teachers must play significant role in identifying and nurturing that potential in the students. Various themes of self-awareness and leadership were taken up and discussions were facilitated on how to integrate them in the normal flow of curriculum in the classes.
At SASIE, on 11th and 12th of October, Rupa interacted with the teachers as well as a group of students to discuss about the importance of leadership and how to imbibe leadership qualities and love for India in the students. The students demonstrated their vision about their country through impromptu skits which showcased their awareness about national issues and their determination to set India to the path of dignity and glory.
In each of the schools, a core group of teachers was formed who would coordinate for the initiatives taken in the respective schools to develop leadership qualities in the students, in parallel to the regular curriculum followed.
